New Māori Caucus for Whānau Violence Prevention

Te Kawerau ā Maki, Ngāti Whātua and Te Rūnanga ā Iwi o Ngāpuhi, along with 12 kaupapa Māori organisations formed a new Māori caucus for the prevention of whānau violence called Te Waihono ā Kupe.
Te Waihono ā Kupe was launched last month in West Auckland, by Associate Minister for Social Development and Employment, Hon Tariana Turia.
The organisations who are signatories to the kawa are:
• Te Kawerau a Maki
• Te Rūnanga ā Iwi o Ngāpuhi
• Ngāti Whātua
• Tu Tangata – Te Atatu
• Kōtuku ki te Rangi Māori Mental Health
• Te Whānau o Waipareira Trust
• Te Roopū Kaumatua o Waipareira
• Tika Maranga Māori Womens Refuge
• Radio Waatea
• Tu Wahine Trust
• Waitematā Māori Wardens
• Hoani Waititi marae
• Māori Women’s Welfare League
• Tāne Atawhai Trust
• and Hapai te Hauora Tapui.
