Evaluation of Multi-Agency Responses to family violence released by the Centre

The Centre for Family Violence and Sexual Violence Prevention has released the Multi-Agency Responses: Outcomes Evaluation (2025). The independent evaluation undertaken by Ihi Research and Wellbeing Economics NZ focused on four local multi-agency responses to family violence in Canterbury, Wairoa, Tairāwhiti and Rotorua. Evaluators looked at what worked, what drove positive outcomes for victim-survivors and people using violence, and the monetary value of investing in this approach.

Findings from Youth Health and Wellbeing Survey 2025 released

Te Manatū Whakahiato Ora | Ministry of Social Development has released the findings from the Youth Health and Wellbeing Survey 2025. The 2025 survey merges and continues the What About Me? and Youth2000 surveys to help track trends from the past 25 years onward. The 2025 survey also includes new questions on social media, screen time and aspirations for the future, and presents a refreshed snapshot of youth psychological distress.

Clarification of processes to lift automatic name suppression

The Criminal Procedure Amendment Rules 2026 are now in effect, which establish a clear and consistent process for victim/survivors in sexual offences to apply for an order to lift automatic name suppression for themselves or a defendant/offender. Applications for identity publication orders can be made at any time, including after the case is closed. New research on technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) in Pacific Island countries

A new article has been published (open access) in the journal, Violence Against Women: Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence: A Mixed-Methods Study of Practitioners in Pacific Island Countries (2026). TFGBV practitioners from nine Pacific Island countries were asked about their experiences and perspectives of what TFGBV looks like, as well as the barriers and challenges that exist for victim-survivors of TFGBV in Pacific Island countries.
