New Easy Read guide on sex and consent
Sexual Wellbeing Aotearoa and IHC have developed a new Easy Read guide on sexual consent for people with learning disabilities: Easy Read – Consent for Sex (2026). This Easy Read guide discusses consent, pornography, contraception, and other considerations when having sex. Easy Read is an internationally recognised tool for making information accessible for people with learning disabilities. Human Rights Commission releases survey on human rights and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
Te Kāhui Tika Tangata Human Rights Commission have released Human rights and Te Tiriti/Treaty issues. This report contains the results of the Commission’s 2025 survey of New Zealanders’ awareness, understanding and attitudes to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, human rights and New Zealand’s constitution. Consultation open on Modern Slavery Bill
The Education and Workforce Committee is calling for submissions on the Modern Slavery Bill. This bill seeks to implement a statutory framework to strengthen and coordinate actions to combat modern slavery. It includes new requirements to report and track progress to combat modern slavery, and to consider whether support for victims is adequate as part of regular reviews of legislation and policy. The full contents of the bill can be found at the link above. The closing date for submissions is Thursday 28 May 2026.
