White Ribbon Day 2013

White Ribbon Day, the international day when men wear a white ribbon to show that they do not condone violence towards women, is marked today, Monday 25 November.

In New Zealand, the White Ribbon Campaign was officially launched on 11 November. The 2013 campaign focuses on men taking the Pledge, promising never to commit, condone or remain silent about violence towards women. White Ribbon events are and have been held around the country, listed on the White Ribbon website. The Clearinghouse has also today released Issues Paper 5, Effectively involving men in preventing violence against women. The author, Garth Baker, will be doing free seminars on the paper in Wellington, Thames, Auckland and Gisborne.
