Western University’s Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women & Children (CREVAWC) invites you to attend the sixth annual Peter Jaffe Lectures on Ending Domestic Violence.
Dr. Jane Pillinger will deliver this year’s keynote, titled, Domestic Violence in the World of Work: International Developments and What Comes Next.
Over the past two decades, domestic violence has been reframed from a private matter into a legitimate concern of labour law, occupational safety and health, and industrial relations. This lecture takes stock of that transformation. It traces the international architecture that consolidated the field, notably ILO Convention No. 190, along with selected national laws, agreements and policies that provide support for survivors at work. It assesses challenges and implementation gaps across governmental, employer, and joint union–employer arenas and identifies future requirements for research and policy agendas addressing the increasing blurring of the home–workplace boundary beyond recognition.
